Aim & Scope

Reports in Soil Science is a peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research focused on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils and their role in sustainable agriculture, climate regulation, and ecosystem health. It accepts original research articles, comprehensive reviews, short communications, case studies, and technical reports addressing critical topics in modern soil science.

The journal includes but is not limited to the following topics:

  • Soil fertility, nutrient cycling, and organic matter management
  • Soil microbiology, microbial ecology, and rhizosphere dynamics
  • Soil physics and hydrology: structure, porosity, and water retention
  • Soil chemistry and mineralogy in natural and managed systems
  • Carbon sequestration, biochar, and greenhouse gas mitigation
  • Soil erosion, degradation, and land restoration strategies
  • Soil pollution, heavy metals, and remediation technologies
  • Impact of agricultural practices and climate change on soil health
  • Soil biodiversity and its role in agroecosystem resilience
  • Precision soil mapping, sensing, and data-driven soil management
  • Use of remote sensing, GIS, and modeling in soil analysis
  • Sustainable soil management and agroecological approaches
  • Soil classification, taxonomy, and digital soil mapping
  • Policy, education, and knowledge transfer in soil stewardship

Mission: To advance interdisciplinary soil research that supports environmental sustainability, food security, and climate resilience through informed soil management and innovation.
